Ms Atim is an advocate and Managing Partner at Atim Apuun & Co. Advocates, Nairobi, a firm that came to the realm of legal practice in 2018.

 

She is also a legal consultant and a pro-bono lawyer with Kituo Cha Sheria and its branch, the Forced Migration Programme and has litigation experience in the Appellate Courts gained while working under senior advocates Mr Gikandi of M/s Gikandi & Company Advocates- Nairobi Branch, Nyaberi Justry of Nyaberi & Co. Advocates Nairobi. She also worked with Ms Momanyi of Momanyi Nyabonyi & Co. Advocates (now Morayo Advocates LLP), a firm specialising in legal audits and compliance, key among companies audited was Brush Manufacturers Ltd (Tee Pee) in 2018. She also worked with the firm of Lumumba & Ayieko Advocates as a partner from September 2016 to September 2018 and saw the implementation and running of a young law firm. She has thus gained experience in various areas of the Law including but not limited to Industrial Relations, Unions & Employment Law, Family Law and Succession matters, Commercial and Corporate Law, tax (domestic and international) and as such has a strong background in litigation with an in-depth understanding of the different areas of law.

 

Ms Atim is also a senior researcher and head of mentorship at the Committee on Fiscal Studies (CFS). For all CFS activities, check https://cfs.uonbi.ac.ke/. She has undertaken research in her areas of interests i.e., Illicit Financial Flows, tax treaties, CIVs, and Domestic Resource Mobilisation, digitization and the digital economy and has published in these areas, written a number of blogs and is currently working on more publications in the broader areas of tax.

She is part of Kenya’s Economy Working Group of Tomorrow (KEoT) is a joint project of civil society, academia, and the private sectors working on and understanding the barriers and drivers for developing an inclusive economic growth model that overcomes ecological and social challenges. Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES) a German political think tank that focuses on the core ideas and values of social democracy and develops strategies on the core issues of economic, social and educational policies and critical issues that advance democracy convenes it.

Ms Atim holds a Master of Laws degree from the University of Nairobi and a Bachelor of Laws degree from Makerere University. Ms Atim is a member of the Law Society of Kenya and a member of the Downtown toastmasters’ club- Nairobi
