Role Overview

The Fundraising and Partnership coordinator will support the overall country grant acquisition, partnership and management strategy and lead the development and realization of the resource mobilization strategy in the country in close collaboration with the Country Director.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Developing Fundraising strategies

  • Support the development and implementation of the Country fundraising strategy by actively participating in the preparation of the country office plans and budgets to ensure conformity with the country strategic plan and organizational grant acquisition guidelines.
  • Effectively communicate the organization’s strategies, cultivating and managing donor/partner relationships, and providing opportunities for cooperation, networking, alliance-building.

Fundraising

  • Identify and analyse funding opportunities and scope potential partnerships to complement and strengthen the country office’s program portfolio.
  • Coordinate and lead market study, donor mapping and country office plan to ensure strong fundraising pipeline.
  • Gather relevant and timely intelligence information necessary for grant acquisition; identify grant opportunities and relevant institutional guidance materials to share with relevant departments.
  • Lead in proposal writing and support with budgeting in compliance with the donor and institutional requirements.
  • Ensure adequate staffing and cost recovery is included in grant budgets and reviewed on a regular basis to ensure the right resources are available to deliver quality programs.
  • Ensure quality proposal development in compliance with donor requirements and institutional policy, procedures, and practices.

Partnerships, Networking and Positioning

  • According to the priorities of the Country’s Fundraising Strategy, take the lead in activities related to networking and positioning before donors. This means, inter alia, approaching donors, organizing meetings or events to make Cyber Aware Africa known amongst the donor community and build a network of contacts for the organization.
  • Identify key stakeholders and networks relevant to priority pipeline opportunities for effective prepositioning.
  • Support the country office/country director to engage in strategic partnerships with civil society, INGOs, UN and government entities as appropriate, to maximize the use of our resources for the implementation of quality programs.

Knowledge management and Information generation

  • Ensure that the Country Program produces relevant information that serves the purpose of positioning the organization before donors and influencing their programming and funding decisions.
  • Lead the management of the pipeline and knowledge database to ensure information is shared among field program and other concerned staff, to capture new opportunities and track the ongoing fundraising.
  • Develop and maintain a knowledge management system for tracking fundraising opportunities including maintaining a repository of proposal development templates, pre-award tools, program concepts, capacity statements, proposal templates, pricing tables etc.

SKILLS, QUALIFICATION, AND EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in Business Development and/or grant acquisition and management are preferable in international development or humanitarian organization.
  • Demonstrated experience in fundraising and donor’s expectation management.
  • Familiar with the fundraising environment with proven knowledge of consortiums, partnerships, and related national applicable legal rules and regulations.
  • Demonstrable proposal writing and budgeting competencies with evidence of successful awards within the last past 5 years from major donors.

Role Overview

The Marketing Manager will be responsible for the organisation’s awareness and communications strategies, as well as overall branding and image. You will prepare annual awareness plans, create a calendar of campaigns and events, set the awareness budget and analyse the market and similar organisations.

KEY ROLES

  • Plan and execute awareness strategy for the organisation and for new and existing products or services
  • Oversee the implementation of the awareness strategy
  • Develop a brand strategy
  • Set and administer an annual awareness budget
  • Create and manage a calendar of events such as webinars, workshops,  conferences and thought leadership contributions
  • Guide the day-to-day activities of the awareness and branding team
  • Continually review changes to the industry, cyber trends and the activities of similar organisations, adjusting the awareness plan if necessary
  • Provide tools and materials to enable the frontline team to function effectively
  • Manage and refine the organisation’s social media presence
  • Manage and measure awareness campaign costs
  • Report on the effectiveness of awareness campaigns using pre-determined KPIs
  • Utilise data for awareness campaigns, interrogating the organisation’s databases and external data
  • Identify new niche opportunities
  • Conduct market research studies
  • Negotiate with media agencies and secure agreements on the production of promotional materials

Key skills

  • Strong project management and people management: You will oversee the awareness and awareness department and guide its day-to-day operations, so you’ll be recruiting, supervising and mentoring members of the awareness team.
  • Leadership and influencing: The role of a Marketing Manager is a creative one, so it’s crucial that you present yourself as a good communicator. You will often report directly to the chief executive and portray your vision and ideas to the executive team. You will also be leading and directing the work of others. Being a Marketing manager also involves constant networking and representing your organisation to outsiders.
  • Data analysis: The role calls for the continual analysis of industry trends and the positioning of similar organisations. This analysis provides the foundation for awareness strategies. Much of this analysis is done by drilling down into data around customer behaviour and experiences, so you need to be up to speed on these techniques.

Qualifications

At least an undergraduate degree is normally expected for the role of a Marketing manager, with marketing or business studies being the most preferable subjects. We also look favourably upon applicants with an MBA or other master’s degree qualification. Being accredited by the Chartered Institute of Marketing is a plus.

Relevant experience

A minimum of eight to 2 years’ experience in marketing is expected for the role of a Marketing Manager.
